Built around the work companies need.
Kepta is a technology-driven legal-services company. We combine software and lawyers to deliver defined work and maintain a useful company legal record.
Manifesto
Why Kepta exists.
Most companies don't have a legal problem. They have a problem with nobody watching the law. A contract sits in someone's inbox. The notice period lives in the head of the person who left in March. A question for a lawyer waits, because nobody knows what the answer will cost.
You have an accountant for the money. Who's watching the contracts?
Nobody waits for a tax audit to do the books. Finance became continuous. Legal never did. In most companies it still works like the fire brigade: you call when something is already burning.
The hour is the wrong unit.
Hourly billing has one odd property: it pays more for slower work. So we publish our prices and confirm the scope before work starts. If something takes us longer than we planned, that is our problem, not yours.
Software does the repetitive part. Lawyers do the judgment.
A large share of legal work is reading, comparing and copying dates into a calendar. Software does that better. Weighing a risk and giving advice stay with our lawyers, who check the work and answer for it. The point is to stop paying a lawyer to be an expensive copy clerk.
A contract doesn't end the day it is signed.
Traditional legal work ends exactly when the contract starts doing things. Yet the expensive things happen afterwards: the auto-renewal nobody noticed, the penalty clause, the deadline that passed in August. That is why we build the Register. We don't just answer questions about contracts. We keep the contracts.
We are starting in Poland, with companies that live by their contracts. Our goal is that one day leaving agreements unwatched will seem as odd as running a company without an accountant does today.
Team.
